Scaling zero waste : live upcycling at Climbing District Paris

Arc'teryx is globally renowned for the extreme technicality and durability of its products.

Through its ReBird™ program, the brand is already heavily committed to repair and reuse. But what happens to the gear that has reached its technical limit?

That is where we come in: acting as the final link in the circular chain.

The answer: A live upcycling workshop at Climbing District in Paris, transforming the "unrepairable" into collector's items for the climbing community.

During a high-energy bouldering competition in Paris, Arc'teryx wanted to provide a hands-on experience of its ReBird™ philosophy.

The challenge was to transform non-repairable Gore-Tex jackets and retired kitesurfing wings into ultra-technical, unique, and desirable accessories, right in front of the participants.

No items found.

The Outcome

  • Exclusive gifts: every competitor walked away with a one-of-a-kind accessory, handcrafted from the brand’s legacy components.
  • Visual impact: a powerful statement for the brand’s image: proving that even the unrepairable holds invaluable worth.
  • Community engagement: a direct connection between climbers and Arc'teryx’s sustainable vision, anchoring circularity within Parisian outdoor culture.

"With this workshop, we demonstrate that the end of a garment's life is merely the start of a new ascent."
